Pharmacy First Plus – Common Clinical Conditions (CCC)
The core use of the Independent Prescribing qualification in the Community Pharmacy setting will be for the management of acute common clinical conditions, which is beyond the scope of the standard NHS Pharmacy First Scotland service, and would otherwise require onward referral to another healthcare professional.

The pharmacist should ensure they have completed the following;
- Must be a qualified Independent Prescriber
- Two day NES Clinical Skills course*
- One day NES consultation skills course*
- One day Common Clinical Conditions/Teach & Treat*
- Deliver the service for a minimum of 25 hours per week for a minimum of 45 weeks a year if claiming the base payment.
*within the first two years of this service being provided

Withdrawing from Pharmacy First Plus NHS FV
To withdraw from the Pharmacy First Plus Service please complete the following form.
Independent Prescribers who are leaving Forth Valley must notify the health board by emailing fv.pharmacyadmin@nhs.scot.
Teach and Treat Hub
As NHS Pharmacy First Plus is now a national contracted service, to ensure wider access to relevant training, NES is working with NHS boards to build increased capacity in both historically established Community Pharmacist Independent Prescribers (CPIPs) and those newly qualified. One of the ways this will be supported is through local board Teach and Treat (T&T) Hubs.
The T&T hub is a place that you can come to for bespoke experiential learning. To arrange time at the Teach and Treat Hub, please contact Jonathan Burton, jonathan@rightmedicinepharmacy.com.
