The overall purpose of Alcohol Screening and Brief Interventions is to reduce hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption in the practice population and thereby improve health and reduce disease.
The scheme involves completion of a simple scratch card by patients, which will provide a score reflecting their alcohol consumption. This may then lead on to a brief consultation with the pharmacist to help facilitate change in drinking behaviours.
